This is a full-time fixed term contract until 30 April 2024


We are looking for a candidate to support the delivery of two H2020 EU projects in the domain of transportation. You are  expected to perform research on designing, modelling, simulating, and developing of intelligent transportation systems with emphasis on Cooperative, Connected and Automated Mobility (CCAM) services.


You will primarily work with the Principal Investigator (Dr Panos Georgakis, in the EU funded project “Next generation traffic management for empowering CAVs integration, cross-stakeholders collaboration and proactive multi-modal network optimization” along with project partners from several EU member states. You will support the design of system architectures for next generation traffic management systems and assist the development of different mobility services, such as journey planning, supply and demand optimisation and recommender systems. In doing so, you will work on the development of simulated models for testing the services and software components for their implementation.


You will undertake independent and collaborative research and will be expected to produce publications for disseminating your work. You will support management/administration activities of the project and produce and present regular project reports ensuring that the project objectives and deadlines are met.


The post offers an exciting opportunity for an outstanding researcher to support the delivery of work-packages of two EU Horizon 2020 research projects. This is a unique opportunity for a candidate who has a minimum of a good honours degree in a discipline related to engineering (preferably with transportation related subjects covered), or computer science and a doctorate level qualification in a related area.


A successful track record in research related to transportation, potential to attract further grants, high level of IT skills and software programming experience will constitute a distinct advantage.
