Please note due to current COVID restrictions this role will be remote working until restrictions have been lifted – thereafter the post holder will be expected to attend the office 1-2 days per week. 

 

University of Wolverhampton is seeking to appoint a Procurement Manager.


This is a replacement position reporting into the Head of Procurement, predominantly based at our Wolverhampton Campus. 


You must have a thorough understanding and proven experience of applying the Public Contracts Regulations, have excellent communication skills and experience of statistical analysis. You should have a professional attitude and an ability to communicate positively with a variety of personalities and job levels both internally and externally.

 

You will be responsible for the daily activities of the Procurement Department in addition to leading your own Category area, therefore experience with Estates (term contracts) and Capital projects and the various forms of construction contracts is preferred.

 

The Procurement Manager shall operate under the direction of the Head of Procurement and is expected to deputise in their absence. 

 

In addition to external representation at national events where the need arises, you will lead and manage the Procurement team consisting of 3 personnel (previous line management responsibility is desirable).

 

The role holder will require:

 

  • the ability to apply and understand a robust Category approach to the Procurement activity including experience of implementing and developing Category Strategies.
  • knowledge of supplier sourcing, supplier vetting and supplier performance monitoring.
  • the ability to work on own initiative in addition to managing and mentoring other members of the team.
  • commitment to assist the Head of Procurement with promotion of the section and broaden the understanding of Procurement’s role at the University.
