The Department of Sport, within the Institute of Human Sciences, is seeking to appoint to 2 fulltime, permanent posts; (one Lecturer and 1 Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Therapy) Please see job ref 12580 for Senior Lecturer vacancy details. You will be required to contribute to the development and delivery of our recently validated BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Therapy, which had its first intake in September 2020. You will have experience as a sports therapy practitioner (with insured status membership of The Society of Sports Therapists). The ability to operate independently as a Sports Therapist in accordance with The Society of Sports Therapists Standards of Education and Training, Standards of Conduct Performance and Ethics, and Standards of Proficiency is essential. You will also have a Masters degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline and teaching experience (preferably in Higher Education or equivalent).
The Department of Sport has wide ranging expertise in areas such as sport sociology, sports coaching, sports and exercise psychology, exercise physiology for elite performance and health, physical education, and strength and conditioning. Research within the department is characterised by excellence and breadth, and its quality was recognised by the 2014 Research Excellence Framework audit. You will be expected to contribute to a thriving teaching and research environment, and research/scholarship informed teaching. Applicants should also demonstrate potential to contribute to the Institute’s income generation and/or outreach and development activities.
