Head of Department of Business
We are seeking to appoint a Head of Department in the Business School at the University of Wolverhampton to provide academic leadership and management. The Department of Business is a new department that includes a portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses including BA Business Management and the MBA. You will join an enthusiastic team committed to developing teaching, research and enterprise which contributes to the Business School, Faculty and University’s strategic ambitions. The ability to lead and manage an academic team at all levels of provision will be expected.
You will demonstrate highly effective leadership skills and will have extensive knowledge and understanding of business education provision within a higher education business school context. You will have experience of providing effective leadership in a higher education setting, research and publications and of working in collaboration with employers, funding agencies, research partners and wider stakeholders.
The University of Wolverhampton Business School is based in the Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences and has a distinguished record of supporting people and organisations. Established for over 80 years, we have ambitions to develop and grow our Executive Education portfolio. We have extensive business networks and work collaboratively with a wide range of professional bodies and offer a portfolio of degree apprenticeship courses and a growing portfolio of TNE partners.
Reporting to the Associate Director of the Business School, the role will be based in Wolverhampton, but you will be expected to work with our regional learning centres in Stafford, Telford and Hereford as well as nationally and internationally.
You will have a good first degree or equivalent, a Masters degree in a relevant subject and experience of teaching and course management in the higher education sector. You should be able to demonstrate a detailed understanding of the Teaching Excellence Framework and an understanding of the Research Excellence Framework, the Knowledge Exchange Framework and a commitment to innovative and inclusive education. The Faculty has well established links with professional bodies, therefore membership and experience of working with relevant professional bodies would be an advantage.
