Senior Lecturer in Emergency Planning
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Senior Lecturer in Emergency Planning to contribute to the provision of high quality teaching and research within the Institute of Health Professions. You will be required to support the delivery of both the Telford Campus and RAF Cosford iterations of the PGC/PGD/MSc Emergency Planning, Resilience and Response programme and to contribute to the growing work of the Emergency Management and Resilience Centre. This includes cover for other staff members, income generation from training course provision, diversification of the postgraduate/MSc programmes, events delivery/management, development of new and existing partnership ventures, and contribution to the University’s academic journal. Currently, this position focuses on teaching, professional practice and other income generation activities rather than research, however, a key part of the role will be the identification and development of new opportunities as well as activities to support the development of the emergency management field towards professionalisation.
Ideally, you will have a practice background in emergency planning/disaster management, teaching experience in a Higher Education Institution, and experience of research relevant to the role specification. You should have a first degree in a relevant subject area or equivalent and either hold, or be working towards a Masters in a relevant subject area at the time of application. You will also hold a recordable teaching qualification (for example, PGCE) or be willing to undertake one, and ideally be recognised as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy; those who do not have SFHEA recognition will need to commit to achieving this at the earliest opportunity. Commitment to innovative teaching and research activities within emergency and disaster management are also a requirement of the post in order to contribute towards the portfolio and the profile of the faculty.
