Temporary post until 30th June 2022

The School of Mathematics and Computing at the University of Wolverhampton is developing two substantial digital projects across The Marches LEP area.  The Cyber Security Centre in development in Hereford, and the Digital Enterprise project in Telford.  They will offer enterprise support, business accommodation, digital challenges, workshops and general business support to digital companies across The Marches areas.

Digital Enterprise aims to support the development of 60 SME’s across Shropshire by offering expert advice and access to research; providing specialist workshops, individual support, and product assessment and focussed networking.  The Business Development Officer role will also support the development of a range of industry challenges around digital technologies (cyber, AI, immersive technologies, digital manufacturing and digital construction) and to support the growth of the relevant digital, manufacturing and construction sector across Shropshire. You will work closely with the Telford and Wrekin Growth Hub who are a partner in this project.

We expect you to hold a degree, or equivalent and to have experience of working with SME’s on business support projects.  Experience of working in the Telford and Shropshire area would be an advantage. It is essential to have expertise in recruiting SME’s to business support projects, and in monitoring progress and success of such interventions with business clients. You will be expected the develop case study material that can be used for promotion of the Digital Enterprise project.  You will also be expected to engage where appropriate with academic and research staff who are able to support business in specialist and technical areas that may be outside of your experience.

You will be expected to support the promotion of the project at local networking or business events so it is essential that you are able to build strong linkages with the network of organisations that are active in supporting the digital sector in the region.

Digital Enterprise started in July 2019 and will conclude in June 2022.

The University of Wolverhampton values a diverse workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
