Senior Lecturer in Physician Associate Studies
The University of Wolverhampton has recently launched The School of Medicine and Clinical Practice, within the Faculty of Science and Engineering, which aims to bring together post-graduate medical education and undergraduate medical science education within one area, with the aim of developing the University of Wolverhampton as a leading provider of Medical Science/Clinical education, within the region. The new school links into the University’s strategic ambition to grow our presence in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects and to build partnerships with local NHS Trusts. Our partnerships will allow us to contribute to meeting workforce and professional development needs at a time of increasing financial strain within the NHS.
The launch of our new undergraduate Medical Science course, plus the continuing development of our MSc in Clinical Medicine coupled with our desire to innovate and re-focus our role in Physician Associate Education, means that we are looking to increase the numbers of medically/clinically qualified staff within the newly-designated School.
You will demonstrate considerable clinical experience, possess a PG Dip/MSc in PA Studies, and be currently listed on the voluntary register. You will demonstrate an intimate knowledge and experience of teaching Physician Associates, either academically or within clinical placement, and will have experience of programme development, and innovative pedagogy. Ideally, you will have experience in developing exciting and engaging problem-based learning scenarios, relating to the appropriate Curriculum and Programme Standards. You must be able to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team, have excellent presentation and communication skills and successful time management plus good organisational skills.
You are expected to have a PGCert in Higher Education (or a willingness to study towards one) or be a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), or equivalent.
If you feel you have these skills and would like an informal discussion about this post, please contact the Head of School, Dr Gill Condé on 01902 321153.
