The School of Humanities is seeking to appoint a permanent part time 0.5 Senior Lecturer in Creative and Professional Writing. The post will require you to deliver high-quality teaching across the existing suite of courses (and includes the areas of poetry, the novel, and non-fiction), promoting excellent levels of student achievement and satisfaction. An ability to teach humour writing, genre, life-writing and/or American Literature, would be advantageous.

You should hold a PhD in Creative Writing or relevant discipline, or equivalent, with good publications and a strong research plan for the future, contributing to the School’s research profile and specifically to its 2021 REF submission.  You will be able to demonstrate excellent pedagogic skills and the ability to teach widely within the Creative Writing programme, and to provide academic leadership by job-sharing the role of course leader within a small but highly dedicated subject team. You will be ready to play an active role in the ongoing development of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including PhD supervision, and participate fully in curriculum design. We are also interested in hearing from candidates who have contributed to outreach activities.
