Lecturer in Building Surveying (0.5)
Fixed Term post until 31st December 2019
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Lecturer in Building surveying. The University of Wolverhampton is making a major strategic investment of £100M to establish a dedicated campus with new facilities for the School of Architecture and Built Environment on a 12 acre city centre brownfield regeneration site as part of the City of Wolverhampton canal-side redevelopment. The School of Architecture and Built Environment is one of five Schools forming the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and is based in the city centre of Wolverhampton. With excellent industrial links, active research programmes and professionally accredited courses, the School is committed to further growing its existing research and consultancy provision. Our new provisions in building control and initiatives with CIOB and LABC have created this opportunity. If successful, you will support the teaching provisions within Building Surveying areas.
Due to the highly student-focussed nature of our activities, you will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and to cooperate wholeheartedly with other staff in the School in their wide-ranging activities. You will be expected to have involvement in professional activities as well as contributing to recruitment, marketing and business activities within the School.
You must have a good Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area. The University of Wolverhampton operates a widening participation policy and as such you should be able to demonstrate that they can develop and maintain empathy and a good rapport with students. A proven familiarity with recent developments in one of the areas within Building Surveying, as well as the ability to work flexibly in a team environment are essential qualities, together with relevant professional body qualifications. A well-established research record would be a distinct advantage, as would experience of new course development as the School implements its expansion plans.
