Senior Lecturer in Medical Education
The School of Sciences at the University of Wolverhampton is embarking on an exciting new venture, developed in collaboration with the School of Medical Science and Clinical Practice in the form of a new BSc (Hons) Medical Science and Clinical Practice award, which seeks to widen opportunities for students wishing to enter a medical career. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic member of academic staff to develop and contribute to the provision of high quality teaching and research within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. You will predominantly support our new course but may also contribute to wider Healthcare Science provision in the School or Faculty.
Dedication to innovative teaching and research activities within the area of Medical Sciences are a requirement of the role alongside the maintenance of high academic standards and enhancement of the student experience. You will have a commitment to engaging with the practice environment and maintain up to date knowledge and skills enabling the delivery of a dynamic, responsive curriculum. You will contribute to the development of the faculty’s portfolio of courses, linking with relevant external partners and the generation of external income for the University.
You will be appointed on the either the University’s Teaching and Research role profile or the Teaching, Scholarship and Professional Practice profile. Both profiles require you to have a PhD (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline and contribute to teaching and research or professional practice activities in the School. You will have broad experience and understanding of teaching in medical and clinical contexts and in the development and implementation of innovative teaching and learning methods. Experience of designing and developing medical science curricula at an appropriate level is essential along with an understanding of inclusive pedagogic practices. An understanding of healthcare policy and provision both locally and nationally are essential.
