Aspire to HE- University Insights & Events Officer
This post is temporary until 31 July 2019
This is a new and exciting opportunity to play a leading role on the work of the new Aspire to HE consortium that is part of the HEFCE-funded National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP). NCOP aims to increase the number of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in higher education by 2020. Inspiring and addressing any unfounded pre-conceptions that university is ‘not for them’ is crucial to this end.
Responsible to the Aspire to HE Hub Manager, you will play a leading role in planning, organising and delivering key areas of the Aspire to HE programme to ensure innovative and effective widening participation activity is delivered to targeted groups of young people. It is essential that young people feel excited about what higher education can offer them, informed about the rewards and benefits that higher education can bring in the longer term and feel welcome and comfortable in a higher education environment. You will be responsible for designing and delivering a calendar of activities to increase awareness of the benefits of higher education and addressing the unfounded pre-conception that university ‘is not for them’. This includes, but is not limited to, responsibility for planning and organising residential and non-residential University experiences (‘Summer Schools’); University ‘insight days’ and other bespoke opportunities (both on and off the University campus) that are essential in order for Aspire to HE to achieve its goal of significantly increasing the number of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in higher education. A background in event organisation and/ or planning would be beneficial to any prospective applicants.
The University of Wolverhampton values a diverse workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
