About the role
The primary purpose of the role is to provide efficient and effective financial control, planning and reporting across the functions covered by the Directorate of Recruitment and Partnerships. This will include the development of new procedures as required. You will ensure effective liaison with the Directorate’s Heads and University’s Central Finance department with regards to the account monitoring of central budgets, work to financial administration deadlines and manage day-to-day financial departmental administration in UK and foreign currencies, maintaining databases of expenditure and income for the Directorate.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent with experience of working in a senior administrative role, be numerate with excellent administrative skills, possess an extensive knowledge of University finance systems and a sound grasp of internal and external quality assurance and audit mechanisms. You should possess organisational and management skills and should be able to communicate effectively with people of different nationalities and cultures and be prepared to work on your own initiative and to tight deadlines.
The possession of appropriate IT skills and competency in the use and application of a range of database software packages and financial control / accountancy systems is essential.
You will be responsible for approving transactions and budgets, responsibility for allocation of cost centres and work orders and monitoring / recording of payments.
