Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sociology and Social Policy
The Faculty of Social Sciences is seeking to appoint an Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sociology and Social Policy who can contribute to the growth of our programmes across both disciplines.
We are looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic individual to contribute to the provision of high quality teaching and research across Sociology and Social Policy. Although all suitably qualified candidates should apply, we welcome individuals with expertise in the fields of work and labour markets, communities, poverty and welfare. So too, experience of the design and delivery of student volunteering and/or work placements would be an advantage.
Sociology and Social Policy are located in the Department of Social Science, Inclusion and Public Protection, a large interdisciplinary unit which constitutes a rich and diverse range of academic disciplines. The Department seeks to develop new postgraduate programmes with an applied Social Science focus. To this end, applications from individuals with the ability to work across disciplines and with experience of applied social research, or research with a policy focus, are particularly welcomed.
Applicants will have a good first degree or equivalent, a Masters’ degree in a relevant subject, a PhD and experience of teaching in the HE sector. You should be able to demonstrate a commitment to high quality teaching and applied social research and have experience of teaching students on a wide range of awards from undergraduate to masters and professional. The Department has well established links with statutory and community organisations, particularly in research contexts and experience of working with relevant organisations would be advantageous.
