About This Role

The University of Wolverhampton is seeking an analytical and forward-thinking Business Analyst to join our Strategic Projects team. This is a pivotal role supporting the delivery of transformation and improvement initiatives across the University. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, analyse processes, and help design innovative solutions that enhance efficiency, performance, and the overall student and staff experience. By contributing to high-impact projects, you will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the University.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Collaborating with stakeholders across faculties and professional services to gather, analyse, and document business requirements
  • Mapping current (“as-is”) and future (“to-be”) processes to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Supporting the delivery of strategic projects through data analysis, reporting, and insight generation
  • Facilitating workshops, meetings, and stakeholder discussions to drive consensus and clarity
  • Producing high-quality documentation including business cases, requirements specifications, and process maps
  • Supporting project governance activities, including tracking progress, risks, issues, and benefits
  • Using data to inform decision-making and measure the impact of change initiatives
  • Assisting in the adoption of new systems, processes, and ways of working across the organisation
  • Ensuring alignment with institutional priorities, policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of business analysis practices within the Strategic Projects team

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification, or substantial relevant professional experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex information
  • Proven experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, or process improvement
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience producing clear documentation such as process maps, business requirements, or reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with data analysis techniques
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a project environment

Desirable:

  • Experience working within higher education, public sector, or large complex organisations
  • Knowledge of business analysis frameworks or methodologies (e.g., Agile, Lean, PRINCE2 environment)
  • Experience using process mapping or data visualisation tools (e.g., Visio, Power BI)
  • Understanding of change management principles
  • Business Analysis certification (e.g., BCS, IIBA) or willingness to work towards accreditation
