Senior Lecturer in Game Design
Integral to the future of our exciting Wolverhampton Screen School facility, the School of Creative Industries is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer (Programme Leader) in Game Design. Ideal candidates will have recent industry experience of innovative video game design and development.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and creative candidate to lead and contribute to our portfolio in Game Design, primarily within our undergraduate courses but also to develop/enhance provision at postgraduate level. We are seeking an industry focused person with knowledge, practice and relevant experience of a range of Game Design production activities including: directing/producing, co-ordinating / pipeline experience, visual development, 3D software knowledge, character and/or environment concept art.
We are particularly interested in candidates whose enthusiasm and professionalism inspires confidence, and builds a good rapport with students, colleagues and external partners. We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds. Ideal candidates will be able to design, produce and teach Game Design across a variety of digital formats.
This post will also be a crucial Programme Leader in related areas of the Screen School, pushing forward our ambitions for developing VFX and virtual production strands within wider course delivery. It is likely that the postholder will enhance delivery of the revalidated Animation (3D software) and Film Production (compositing, rendering, etc). As such, we see this new Programme Leader as driving forward the increasingly convergent trajectory of traditionally separate courses in HE.
We are looking for a specialist in art-based digital 3D with a potential background in animation, concept art, character/level design. Experience of Higher Education, Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB) accreditation and understanding of VFX would be an advantage as well as virtual production knowledge/experience. Knowledge of Creative Producer, XR content, and specific skills in the following would be an advantage:-
- Unreal Blueprint coding
- Real-time rendering and motion sequence creation
