Facilities and Circulation Assistant (12 months)
Maternity Cover - fixed term 12 months
The University Library is seeking to appoint, on a temporary basis, a Facilities and Circulation Assistant to join the Library Customer Services team. The role involves working weekday evenings (4:00 pm to midnight) at our Walsall campus library as maternity cover.
The University Library is part of the wider Directorate of Academic Development and Success (ADS) which is responsible for leading on the development of innovate and inclusive educational and pedagogic practice across the University, ensuring an excellent educational student experience.
You will be responsible for ensuring that our students, staff and external visitors have safe access to the library study spaces and to provide a basic level of support to all of our library users, ensuring they make the most of the library’s services and facilities.
You will have a responsibility for ensuring the effective operation of all library circulation activity including circulation of print books and journals and other loanable devices (e.g. laptops) and will also be required to carry out other general library duties including shelving, roving support, monitoring and maintaining the learning environment, providing support from the helpdesk and troubleshooting equipment issues.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skill and be committed to providing excellent customer service in a busy support environment. You should work well as part of a small team but must also be able to work independently during occasional periods of lone-working.
The pattern of work for this post will consist of working five weekday evenings, 4 pm-midnight. You will be primarily based at our Walsall campus library but you will be required to work from our other campuses on an occasional regular basis.
