Research Assistant-Novel Perceptions -Computational Linguistics
0.8 FTE, temporary fixed term contract until 14.9.2022, starting mid-October 2021
As a Research Assistant on the University of Wolverhampton’s Novel Perceptions project, you will be working with an international and interdisciplinary research team on a cutting-edge research project that investigates diversity and inclusivity in the world of literature.
The research project, led by Professor Sebastian Groes, is collaborating with external partners including the BBC Arts, the British Library, Libraries Connected, the Reading Agency and various (literary) festivals including the Being Human Festival, Birmingham Literature Festival, Wolverhampton Literature Festival, the Welcome Centre Cultures and Environments of Health at the University of Exeter as well as the Belfast Book Festival.
You will be expected to support the research of the Novel Perceptions team. You will focus on computational linguistics and natural language processing, contribute to public engagement events and other promotional activities. The job also requires you to write reports for the funder and help disseminate research findings appropriately and effectively. Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is a commitment to research excellence and equal opportunities. You will need to have the ability to work independently and pro-actively.
The position is based in the School of Humanities, Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences at the University of Wolverhampton, in the UK.
