We are looking for a talented, passionate and organised individual with a keen eye for detail, to take on the crucial role of Events Manager at the University of Wolverhampton.


About the Role


Based in External Engagement, you will be the University’s most senior lead for corporate, student recruitment and virtual events, responsible for directly planning, organising and executing impactful high-profile events both digitally and on-campus.


You will lead the events team in delivering around 400 virtual events and sixty-plus ‘physical’ events per year to a high professional standard, whilst managing your three-person Events team and client relationships effectively.


Physical events will include large-scale undergraduate and postgraduate open days/evenings, high profile events for senior figures, and student-focused events aimed at generating a ‘buzz’ around campus. Virtual events will also include open days and applicant days, as well as conferences, public lectures, launches, and other marketing and recruitment activities.


You’ll work with internal clients and external partners to develop innovative, successful events to raise profile, enhance reputation and meet the aims and objectives of the client. As an events specialist, you’ll also act as expert consultant, steering and supporting university departments on best practice for their own events, whilst tracking event performance where possible to ensure a continual improvement of the visitor experience.


About You


You will be a driven, technically confident, highly organised and diligent events manager with extensive hands-on experience of delivering every aspect of an event.


Face to face University events are large-scale, high profile and frequent, so you will be used to remaining calm in pressured situations, all whilst managing your time, team, stakeholders and priorities effectively, whilst ensuring a safe and engaging visitor experience. With so many events moving to the virtual world, you’ll be confident with learning and getting the most out of new digital tools and platforms, before using them to host events on a frequent basis.


You will know how to get the best out of your team, delegating where appropriate, and managing performance and budgets to ensure the best possible event delivery.


Flexible and hard-working, and with a keen eye for detail, you will have excellent customer service and client management skills as you juggle multiple responsibilities and competing demands from internal and external clients.


You will put visitor experience at the forefront of everything you do, working concisely and systematically, whilst ensuring the ultimate aim or strategic purpose of an event is delivered.


You will remain calm under pressure, working collaboratively with colleagues in the External Engagement directorate to ensure print, promotional and online assets are produced to a high standard and to deadline.
