The Elite Centre for Manufacturing Skills (ECMS) is an employer-led training facility designed to improve productivity and growth in the high value manufacturing sector.  The ECMS has been funded by a grant provided by the Black Country LEP/Midlands Engine, awarded to the University of Wolverhampton as Project Sponsor, working in collaboration with key organisations in the region.  Recently the Project has been given a broader brief extending its scope beyond the original target group.

ECMS is seeking to employ an additional Technician/Instructor to join the Foundry Team to contribute to the delivery of teaching and learning by providing technical support to the ECMS Hub National Foundry Training Centre at Tipton and to the Metallurgy Laboratory at Springfield Hub.

The post will work alongside another Foundry Technician/Instructor and will be responsible for instructing and monitoring Learners on training programmes within the ECMS.  They will work to support the delivery of the associated Foundry Casting and Patternmaking training ensuring that the Foundry is maintained to an exceptionally high standard at all times and that required materials are readily available to support planned teaching.

The successful applicant will have 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade C or above or equivalent and a Level 3 or above qualification in an Engineering or related discipline.  They will also be required to have a Cert Ed qualification or equivalent or be willing to work towards a relevant teaching qualification.

Experience of working in a foundry, workshop or laboratory is essential.

The post is offered on a fulltime, 37 hours per week basis.
