A Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) is a three-way project between a graduate, an organisation and a university.

KTP is one of the largest graduate recruitment programmes across the UK, placing graduates (KTP Associates), to work on challenging, high profile projects.

As a KTP Associate you can expect:

      Career acceleration

Valuable experience and marketable, highly transferable skills

      A competitive salary

Practical and formal management training and development

An excellent chance of a permanent post with the company

This KTP project offers a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious graduate to launch a career in industry with the support of company and academic mentors. IST Ltd (Integrated System Technologies Ltd, based in Boldmere, Birmingham) an industry leader in advanced LED lighting solutions, has joined forces with the University of Wolverhampton on this KTP project with the purpose of developing affordable, modular, smart building management systems.

You should hold a good (1st or 2.1) degree, a BSc (Hons) (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline. You will need to demonstrate programming skills and experience. Knowledge and understanding of an industry standard object oriented programming language (Java/C#) is essential. Some knowledge of AI and/or Machine learning, Linux and mongoDB databases would be beneficial.

Ideally you will also have some knowledge of intelligent building management systems, including understanding of the range of sensors, control systems and associated software platforms currently available.

You will need to be a confident communicator with highly developed written, oral and presentation skills, capable of publishing in scientific journals, and be able to liaise effectively with a range of internal and external contacts, including IST customers in the UK and abroad.

Good project management skills and an interest in training and embedding knowledge to staff are also essential. Some business acumen and understanding of the constraints and opportunities of working within a small business would be an advantage.

To support your commitment to continuous self-development you will have a generous personal development budget in addition to Management Training provided by the KTP scheme. Additional training in software, hardware and areas as required by the project will be provided as necessary.

You will be employed by The University of Wolverhampton and will be based at IST Ltd in Birmingham/Lichfield with time spent using the computing provision at the University of Wolverhampton as necessary.  You must be willing and able to travel independently both within the UK and overseas.
