This KTP project offers a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious graduate to launch a career in industry with the support of company and academic mentors. Repose Furniture, a UK Leader in producing highly engineered seating has joined forces with the University of Wolverhampton on this KTP project to enable them to adopt and embed digital engineering and design. The project will implement modern design and manufacturing capability impacting New Product Development, productivity and growth.

The KTP is part of a considered strategic plan to continue company growth through investment in its people, process, equipment, technology and client relations.
Working on this KTP you will gain highly sought-after experience and skill development within the furniture and health sector. You will be responsible for project managing this programme of work, bringing your engineering, design, analytical and technological knowledge to the company. You will bring experience in the installation and use of 3D CAD systems and 2D image generation systems. You will have the creative and technical ability to integrate digital design with digital manufacturing processes and quality procedures. You will be capable of developing and delivering staff training projects and wrap-around support. An understanding of business skills associated with design and manufacture (Market Research, Product Costing) is a distinct advantage.
We seek a minimum of a first degree (1st or 2.1) in Product Design, Industrial Design, Manufacturing or related subject (or equivalent). A Masters Degree would be a distinct advantage. You should demonstrate some knowledge of design for furniture and or products for Health and Care settings. In particular you should demonstrate an understanding of materials and knowledge of ergonomic design principles.
You should be enthusiastic and capable of working autonomously as well as in a team and be able to interact at all levels within industry with an inquisitive and innovative approach. Good communication skills are essential as is a flexible working approach and strict time management. A positive attitude and pride in your work, showing attention to detail and quality control are essential. The ability to balance technical issues with commercial constraints and demonstrate abstract thinking skills are also key requirements for this role.

You will be employed by The University of Wolverhampton and will be based at Repose Furniture in Cradley Heath but the project will also involve periods using the research base and product prototyping equipment at the University of Wolverhampton. You must be willing and able to travel independently both within the UK and possibly overseas. It is essential that you are prepared to work within an environment of strictest confidentiality.
