The University of Wolverhampton is one of the country’s most successful modern Universities, holding a distinctive place within the UK higher education sector and delivering excellence in teaching and research, widening access, and business engagement.  Proud to be one of the region’s largest employers and an integral part of economic growth and social change, we offer a vibrant, challenging and friendly place to work.

The University’s Estates and Facilities Directorate is responsible for developing and managing the whole of the University Estate across all three of its campuses at Wolverhampton, Walsall and Telford. The Facilities and Support Service Department is responsible for the provision of all ‘soft’ facilities services, including cleaning, catering, caretaking, postal and telephone and security as well as a retail portfolio including a nursery, inter-site bus-service, conferencing and digital print service.

Over the last year, the University has undertaken a major reorganisation of this service, introducing a new dedicated Assistant Director for Facilities with three sector head reports, each taking responsibility for a specific area of service delivery. The reorganisation has gone well, with major improvements already having been realised in most areas.

Due to the planned retirement we are now seeking candidates to fulfil the role of Facilities Manager.

You will support the development, operation and strategic leadership of the University’s Facilities maximising efficiency and ensuring high quality services supporting the enhancement of the student, staff and visitor experience. You will lead the delivery and development of the services whilst working closely with the other teams within the Estates and Facilities Directorate to ensure seamless delivery across the service.

Your main activities will be to support the management of both student and conference accommodation, soft services delivery teams, security, Hub delivery (both physical and virtual), and the new Helpdesk.

Crucial to fulfilling these responsibilities is a combination of strategic planning, effective execution, and a well-judged collaborative approach – all underpinned by the need to achieve results.

The University of Wolverhampton values a diverse workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
