The School of Mathematics and Computer Science manages a well-established portfolio of Mathematics and technology-related courses covering such areas as Mathematics, Computer Science, Software Engineering and Information Systems as well as new specialism degrees in topics such as Data Science, Business Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics and Cybersecurity.

 

We are seeking candidates of the highest calibre, with the interest, enthusiasm and experience to contribute to the development of innovative programmes of teaching, research and consultancy. You must possess a PhD Degree in computer Science, mathematics or a relevant subject.

 

You will work as a member of the School management team to contribute to the development and management of the School by taking on appropriate coordinating roles.  You are expected to provide academic leadership and line management to staff working within an area of responsibility to ensure the school delivers the strategic priorities for the faculty and university in respect of teaching and learning, scholarship and enterprise.

 

You are expected to work with staff and students in the pursuit of research both as an individual and as part of the wider School and Faculty activities, encompassing complementary research areas by contributing to the work of established research groups. Hence, you should have a track record of dissemination of research outputs / achievements in high quality scientific/technical journals and have the potential to attract research funding and/or generate external income.

 

Linking the curriculum to employability is a central objective of the School.  You will be expected to support student employability and develop outlets for student work. 

 

The School of Mathematics and Computer Science has a long standing tradition in setting up and successfully conducting Transnational Education (TNE) activities with many overseas partners.  Hence you will be required to travel abroad to deliver on the School’s commitments as appropriate.

 

You will be expected to teach Computer Science or mathematics at undergraduate and postgraduate level and possess very good inter-personal skills, highly developed communication and organisational skills and a capability to motivate students.

 

The ability to conduct and supervise research and contribute towards appropriate external income initiatives is desirable.
