Principal Lecturer- Head of Quality Standards Enhancement
The Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing (FEHW) are seeking to recruit to the post of Head of Quality Standards Enhancement. The appointee will work in close collaboration and share with the Director of Teaching Excellence (Associate Dean) quality monitoring and assurance activities (continual quality review, validations/approvals, external examining activities, quality enhancement, QAA/PSRB aligned reviews, and data returns).
You will be part of a new FEHW quality team who are currently reviewing quality processes and devising interventions to support Institutes/Schools to meet with Quality and Collaboration Unit (QCU) objectives. Central to this role will be leading multi-disciplinary teams to review and monitor teaching portfolios which meet with QAA/PSRB standards and develop quality enhancement interventions and strategies which support University/Faculty Learning, Teaching Strategy, College of Learning and Teaching (CoLT), Advance HE and external stakeholders. This will involve leading a team of newly appointed assessment verification and quality officers (representing Institutes/Schools) to operationalise external examining activities; quality monitoring and verification of teaching, learning and assessment; validation, approval and deletions; periodic review; modifications, course journal and other quality activities as designated and shared with the Director of Teaching Excellence (Associate Dean). Essential to this role will be supporting external examiner activities, assessment board arrangements and reviewing and reporting on external examiner responses. The ability to synthesise quality outcomes, prioritise courses and areas which fall below quality standards and operationalise guidance will be essential.
You will be required to chair, attend and lead on relevant School, Institute and Faculty meetings and committees (FAEC, Course and Journal Committee Meetings, Periodic review, academic development group) and disseminate relevant information/process as designated by the Director of Teaching Excellence (Associate Dean). A key part of this post will be to lead Institutes/Schools across FEHW in the implementation of interventions which adopt consistent approaches in Key Information Sets (KIS) and HESA/HEFCE Faculty returns, teaching, learning and assessment activities which meet with high quality standards. You will work collaboratively with the College of Learning and Teaching (CoLT), Quality and Collaboration Unit (QCU) and keep up-to-date with QAA/PSRB standards and evidence-based practice which supports informs innovative approaches and best practice in quality enhancement. You will work closely with the PL team in reviewing and prioritising outcomes related to quality issues from internal reviews and external audit surveys/KPIs which are actioned and operationalised across Institutes/Schools in FEHW. Student complaints and appeals which relate to quality process, acting as Chair for validation and review panels and leading on periodic reviews, as designated and shared with the Director of Teaching Excellence (Associate Dean) will be central to this role.
You will be educated to a minimum of a Master’s degree level or equivalent and will have sound knowledge and experience of quality enhancement activity (academic and professional).
