A Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) is a three-way project between a graduate, an organisation and a university.

This KTP project offers a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious graduate to launch a career in industry with the support of company and academic mentors.  Transicon Ltd have joined forces with the University of Wolverhampton on this KTP project to introduce mechanical engineering knowledge and skills into the company to complement existing electrical expertise. Traniscon currently work on a wide portfolio of electrical control contracts from many sectors, and the purpose of this partnership is to grow the mechanical engineering skills within the company allowing them to take on additional electro-mechanical projects, so broadening the scope and value of contracts.  They may also move into development of their own products.  


You will be responsible for working on, and project managing a range of projects, using your mechanical design and analytical knowledge and skills where necessary. The role will be varied, and you will quickly build experience of working on contracts from many sectors. You should have experience of managing projects, and it is essential to have knowledge of New Product Development (NPD) processes as you will be expected to implement an appropriate process at Transicon.


We seek a minimum BEng/BSc (Hons) 2:1 in Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering with a significant electrical engineering input as you must be able to understand and work with the electrical engineering skills within the company.   You must be able to demonstrate practically your knowledge of CAD software (ideally SolidWorks).  


You should be confident, self-motivated and capable of working autonomously as well as in a team and be able to interact at all levels within industry with an inquisitive and innovative approach. You will need to work with the existing Transicon workforce on projects, so good communication skills are essential as is a flexible working approach.


To support your commitment to continuous self-development you will have a generous personal development budget in addition to residential Management Training provided by the KTP scheme. Additional technical training and development will be supported as required by the project.


You will be employed by The University of Wolverhampton and will be based at Transicon Ltd in Telford. You must be willing and able to travel independently both within the UK and overseas to support the project aims.
