Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Emergency Planning
The Faculty of Education Health and Wellbeing seeks to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Emergency Planning to contribute to the provision and expansion of high quality teaching, training, research and a variety of enterprise work.
You will be expected to have a good track record of teaching or training, a commitment to enhancing the student experience, and an aptitude for utilising technology to enrich learning. You will be expected to contribute to the development of the Faculty’s portfolio of courses and generation of external income. In particular we are seeking specialists in emergency planning/management, resilience and business continuity that have knowledge and understanding of relevant UK and international policy applicable to these fields.
We are eager to recruit to a post to focus initially on the development and delivery of a BSc in Emergency and Disaster Management, in addition to supporting the existing postgraduate provisions and other related activities. The post would suit either an experienced practitioner with some training/teaching experience and new to higher education, or an experienced educator and practitioner.
You will join an experienced team delivering emergency management courses with aspirations for development across a number of opportunities and ventures. You will also have contact with, and the potential for involvement in the Faculty’s other programmes. Over time you may be expected to contribute to other course delivery in line with our changing business demands and evolving portfolio of courses. For example, cross faculty work or in an advisory role in support of the university’s emergency/business continuity arrangements.
You will be educated to at least postgraduate level or equivalent (or soon to be so), have relevant knowledge and experience of practice in emergency/disaster management and business continuity, and have a motivation to new developments, opportunities, as well as a desire to bring academic and practice elements of this field closer together.
This post will be based at our Telford Campus.
