Senior Lecturer in Physiology
The School of Sciences at the University of Wolverhampton is embarking on an exciting new venture, developed in collaboration with the University of Birmingham and the Academic Institute of Medicine (AIM) in the form of a new BSc (Hons) Medical Science and Clinical Practice award. We are seeking to appoint three enthusiastic members of academic staff to develop and contribute to the provision of high quality teaching and research within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. You will predominantly support our new course but may also contribute to the wider Healthcare Science provision in the School or Faculty.
Dedication to innovative teaching and research activities within the area of Medical Sciences are a requirement of the role alongside the maintenance of high academic standards and enhancement of the student experience. You will have a commitment to engaging with the practice environment and maintain up to date knowledge and skills enabling the delivery of a dynamic, responsive curriculum. You will contribute to the development of the faculty’s portfolio of courses, linking with relevant external partners and the generation of external income for the University.
You will be appointed on either the University’s Teaching and Research role profile or the Teaching, Scholarship and Professional Practice profile. Both profiles require you to have a PhD (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline and contribute to teaching and research or professional practice activities in the School. Experience of designing and developing Physiology curricula at an appropriate level with relevance to medically focussed practice is essential along with a desire to employ innovative teaching and assessment methods. An understanding of healthcare policy and provision both locally and nationally are essential.
We particularly welcome applications from Healthcare professionals who are looking to start to develop an education career.
