Senior Chemical Engineering Technician
The Faculty of Science and Engineering is seeking to appoint a senior technician to work within the Chemical Engineering department. The post will involve supporting teaching, research, consultancy and outreach activities in the Faculty and to ensure the maintenance of a safe, clean and professional working environment. Additionally you will provide core services for Chemical Engineering including the provision of materials, equipment, receiving and logging goods inward, implementation of stock organisation and control procedures, and disposal of waste material.
You will have the interpersonal and communication skills necessary to develop successful partnerships with staff, students, external clients and suppliers, and the ability to work as part of a team. You will need to be helpful, competent and flexible, and be willing to work in any laboratory or classroom relative to your experience. Educationally you will need an HND in Chemistry or similar; a degree in a science or Chemical Engineering would be desirable. Knowledge of relevant safety assessments, e.g. COSHH, would be an advantage.
The School of Engineering, and in particular Chemical Engineering, has seen significant growth recently. A £10 million investment has been made into our main Engineering site and the new chemical engineering site, in Wolverhampton, is newly built and is adjacent to the £25 million science laboratory.
